Jasper County Sheriff's Department is investigating more than 35 reports of mailbox damage.

With a packed grandstand, Vanessa Jones was crowned 2009 Miss Jasper County Fair Queen Monday evening.  Vanessa is the 18 year old daughter of Mike and Vickie Knepper of Newton.  Sharon Blievernicht, 19, the daughter of Mike and Kim Blievernicht of Newton, was named First Runner-Up.  The newly crowned Queen Vaneessa was named Miss Congeniality by the other contestants and also received the Outstanding Communication Award.

The Newton Folk Festival was held last Saturday and despite the warm temps and rain that fell later in the evening everyone had a good time and listened to great folk music.

It has been four weeks since the Snowden's rolled into this great city of Newton. Pastor's Brad and Daneille with their three children, Nathan (17), Felecia (10) and Tabitha (6) came here from the foothills of North Carolina.
