Mrs. Helen Olive Spiker, 70, of rural Wheeler, Illinois passed away at 8:10 p.m., Sunday, August 24, 2008 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.


Mrs. Helen Olive Spiker, 70, of rural Wheeler, Illinois passed away at 8:10 p.m., Sunday, August 24, 2008 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services celebrating Helen's life will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Latona Church of Christ in Latona, IL. Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, IL. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home. There will be a visitation 1/2-hour before service at the church. Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen was born August 16, 1938 in Douglas County, IL the daughter of Keith and Olive (Brown) Dague. She married Dale Spiker July 27, 1958 in Hugo Church, Hugo, IL; he survives. Helen was a homemaker and a loving farmer's wife, mother and special grandma. Helen was a member of the Latona Church of Christ and had been an active member of the Jasper County Pork Producers. She enjoyed watching sports especially the Illini and had been a volunteer and chaperone for the Newton Marching Band trips. But most of all she enjoyed her family and spending her time with her grandchildren.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Roy) Davis, Jr. of Martin's Ferry, OH and Jill Rueter of Newton; six grandchildren, Jeremy Davis, Shannon Davis, Adam Woods, Delaney Heal, David Rueter and Ridge Davis; one brother, Archie (Delores) Dague of Oakland and one sister, Virginia (Lloyd) Johns of Oakland.Helen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Joe Dague.

In loving memory of Helen, memorials may be made to the Latona Church of Christ playground equipment fund.
