PTHS girls' tennis

Pontiac won its girls' tennis match after the singles matches as the Indians took five of the six contests. The Tribe lost two of the doubles matches but still left the Champaign-Atkins Tennis Center with a 6-3 win over host St. Thomas More Thursday.
Leah Wayman was the only double-winner for the Indians. Wayman won the No. 6 singles match 6-4, 6-2. Wayman and Brienna Weaver teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Brooke Whittle and Bethany Jewell were pushed to a tiebreaker set before prevailing in singles play. Whittle rallied in the No. 1 match for a 2-6, 6-4, 10-6 win. Jewell also came from behind in claiming a 2-6, 6-3,10-7 win at No. 4.
Ishika Patel won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 and Ashley Branz was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at No. 5.
Caiti Corrigan (6-0, 6-3) and Samantha Sipe (6-0, 6-1) won exhibition singles matches. Sam Thoman and Raya Bauman teamed for a 9-8 win in exhibition doubles.
