Sydney Brooks, daughter of James and Melissa Brooks, has been named a first place winner in the 2011 state GFWC Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs Youth Art Contest. Pat Hildebrand, Newton Woman's Club Art Chairman, presented Brooks with her certificate and check.

All students in Jasper County is grades 6 through 12 are encouraged to submit entries for the 2012 Newton Woman's Club Art Contest. Entries must be original in pencil, pen and ink, collage, mixed media, oil, pastels with a maximum size of 20” x 24” including mat and using no glass. The deadline for entering is December 31, 2011. For more information contact a local art teacher or Pat Hildebrand at 783-3567.
