The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12
At 9:00 a.m. Today, May 15, 2017, at 25E, ¼ mile south of 1700N, approximately 5 miles north of Oblong near the Jasper/Crawford County line, an injury accident occurred involving a 2007 yellow Freightliner Truck Tractor and Trailer, driver William L. Hill, 61, of Oblong and a 1994 red CASE IH 5220 Farm Tractor, driver Jack W. Snider, 64, of Oblong.


Preliminary investigative details indicate Unit 1 was southbound on Crawford County Rd. 25 E. when he attempted to overtake and pass a southbound Unit 2.  While attempting to pass, Unit 1 left the roadway to the left causing Unit 1 to roll over onto its driver side where it came to rest in the west ditch of 25 E.


Hill was transported by ambulance to Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson for non-life threatening injuries.


Hill was charged with Improper Lane Usage and Failure to Wear Seatbelt.


All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
