Jasper County States Attorney, Chad M. Miller, announced that on August 24, 2017, Eugene C. Ochs, (D.O.B. 07/05/1949), from Ste. Marie, Illinois, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a Class 2 Felony.

Eugene C. Ochs entered an open plea, meaning there is not a set sentence and he is subject to a maximum penalty of between three (3) and seven (7) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for November 21, 2017 at 1 p.m. At that time, the Court will hear evidence and sentence recommendations from both sides of the case. No matter what sentence is imposed, Ochs will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.

Pending sentencing, Eugene C. Ochs remains released on bond, having posted $25,000.00 cash bond, with special conditions that he have no contact with the alleged victim, any guardian or parent of the alleged victim, and have no contact whether direct or indirect with any child under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.
