Local Man Promoted To Commander of United States Air Force Maintenance Group U.S. Air Force Col. Lee Vanderhoof, of Newton, Illinois, took command of the 175th Maintenance Group, Maryland Air National Guard, Jan. 6, 2018 at Warfield Air National Guard Base, Middle River, Md.

Vanderhoof is responsible for the organization, training, and equipping of over 450 personnel performing all aspects of A-10C Thunderbolt II aircraft maintenance. Col. Vanderhoof has been a member of the Maryland ANG since 2001. In 2003 and 2012 he deployed with the wing to Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan and Al Asad Air Base, Iraq in 2007.

Vanderhoof is the son of Quincy and Janet Vanderhoof of Newton, Illinois.
