Summer camp participants enjoy a day out
MACOMB — It was a good morning for mini-golf.
Participants in the Sports Fan session of the McDonough County Special Recreation Association Summer Camp enjoyed a round of golf at Ball Fore Tuesday morning. The group, made up of a handful of participants aged 11 to 30 and MCSRA personnel, plans to make a field trip out to Horn Field later this week to continue the sports theme.
The six-week camp offers three, two-week camp sessions: Outdoor Adventure Camp, Sports Camp, and Get Your Craft On (Arts Camp). Participants enjoy activities like swimming, bowling, games, crafts, and nature and other field trips.
The camp sessions also offer learning opportunities as well as entertainment, Jessica Stephens, camp coordinator and Macomb Park District Program Assistant, said. Campers in the last two-week session learned about nature and Earth day.
The upcoming session, Arts Camp, offers campers lessons on the arts and opportunities to craft, act and dance. It runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from July 23 to Aug. 2. Cost is $120 for each two-week camp, with scholarships available to Macomb residents.
The MCSRA also offers programs featuring a variety of cultural, sport, and social activities, and Special Olympics sports. For more information on the MCSRA camps and programs, go online to http://www.mcsra.com/summer-camps/ or call 309-833-4562.
