MACOMB – Bill Jacobs has been tapped as the new executive director by the Housing Authority of McDonough County Board of Commissioners on Monday.
Jacobs was tapped as the most qualified candidate for executive director during a personnel search that began shortly after the abrupt departure of the former director Tina Okenfuss in November of last year. For the last seven months, Jacobs has served the Housing Authority as its interim executive director.
“We’re going to negotiate a salary and his benefit package and come back to the board,” Kim Pierce, President of the Board of Commissioners, said following adjournment of a regular meeting of the Housing Authority in Eisenhower tower.
Pierce said there were a number of potential candidates selected during the search process.
“Well, we just did interviews with them, and none of them had quite the experience nor the skill sets that we were looking for. Although Bill (Jacobs) was initially going to be an interim until we hired someone hopefully coming from that pool (of potential candidates), after we interviewed with him, he said that he would be considered a candidate,” Pierce said. “So, we went through the same process with him that we did with the other candidates, and ended up with Bill.”
According to Pierce, effective Aug. 1, Bill Jacobs will be the permanent full-time executive director of the Housing Authority of McDonough County.
