KEWANEE – The Canton High boys soccer squad was back on the road Thursday facing a first-time opponent in Kewanee High.

 

The Little Giants would trail 2-0 at the half on the way to suffering a 3-0 setback to the home team.

 

Kewanee posted a 20-4 advantage in shots, including a 10-3 edge in shots on-goal. The home team also had seven corners kicks, compared to two for the Little Giants.

 

Canton keeper Quentin Frame finished with 10 saves, five in each half.

 

“The boys played with intensity the entire game and had a lot of fun,” said CHS coach Jeff Weyers. “We had a couple good scoring opportunities. It was great to have Tyler Tarvin back on the field after recovering from an injury.”

 

Canton (1-7 varsity, 0-6 Mid-Illini JV) was to face Peoria Christian Friday at Eastside Centre. The Little Giants will wrap up Mid-Illini JV play October 9 at Metamora beginning at 5 p.m.

 

Canton enters IHSA Class 2A Regional action on October 12 as the Little Giants will face Limestone at Bartonville in a 5 p.m. match.
