Train collides with car

According to an Illinois State Police report, a train heading eastbound in Newton struck the front, passenger side door of a vehicle driven by Gary Lee Davis, 29, of Newton at the intersection of South Jackson and Decatur at 11:37 a.m. on November 18th.

The train pushed the vehicle a short distance where it came to rest on Decatur Street, 70 ft., down the track before Davis drove home three blocks and called 9-1-1.

Davis was taken to St. Anthony Memorial Hospital with minor cuts. He was also given citations for No Insurance and Failed to Yield at Intersection.
