A transformer fire at the Newton Power Plant was reported to the Wade Fire Protection District Saturday at 1:33 p.m.
Along with Wade, other units assisting were Jasper County Ambulance, Jasper County Sheriff's Department, Dieterich, Greenup, Montrose, Yale, Teutopolis, Robinson, Effingham Fire and City/County Ambulance, Noble-Wakefield and Oblong was on stand-by.
The fire was reported under control at approximately 4:30 p.m. There were no injuries. All units left the scene at 11:44 p.m. after assisting with clean-up.
