In the hallway of the Newton Elementary School are several displays and reports of the sixth grade science students. Connie Elliot had hosted a day at Sam Parr State Park earlier in the month for the science classes to spend several hours observing the aquatic and forest life of the park. The students were involved in several demonstrations on the animal and plant life of the park.
The science students then worked on research projects on their own specific topic relating to conservation. The students wrote papers based on their research and observations and then put together physical displays of their work. Bird houses and dioramas were on display in the school hallway as well as waterscapes and agricultural scenes. The teachers and students were proud of the hours of work which were put into the projects.
