Vandals damage many mailboxes

Newton, Ill. -
Jasper County Sheriff's Department is investigating more than 35 reports of mailbox damage.
These incidents occurred late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, June 27-28. The damage is in a large area of Jasper County north and west of Newton.
In many cases the entire mailbox was stolen. Authorities have discovered lawn ornaments that may have been stolen during these crimes.
Anyone missing items such as these are asked to contact Jasper County Sheriff's Department at (618) 783-3057.
