Kindergarten pre-registration is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16-Friday, February 19, 2010. Registration will be held during regular school hours all week at Willow Hill and Grove schools, respectively. For the convenience of parents, registration hours will be extended at Willow Hill on Wednesday, February 17 from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Registration will be offered at Newton Elementary, in the school library, on February 18 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for those students who will be attending Willow Hill School. All students who live in Newton will attend Willow Hill next year. If any parent is unable to register their child during that week, please call the appropriate school and make an appointment.
Children must be five years old on or before September 1, 2010 in order to attend kindergarten during the 2010-11 school year. All parents are asked to pre-register their child if he/she will be attending kindergarten in August. No payment of fees is required at this time, but all parents need to be sure to attend registration in August.
All items necessary for enrollment next August are listed below. For pre-registration, please bring the immunization record, social security number and the birth certificate. All information below must be on file at school prior to each student's school attendance.
-Copy of physical exam (current within 1 year of first day of school)

-Up-to-date immunization records
-*Certificate of Live Birth
*Certificate of Live Birth must be obtained from the county clerk of the county in which the student was born. A copy of the birth certificate obtained from the hospital WILL NOT be adequate. Copies of the correct certificate can be made at pre-registration.
Pre-School Screening
Pre-school screening of all Jasper County children ages 6 months to 5 years of age will take place from February 22 thru February 26, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Newton. S pecific information has been sent home with students in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades and will also be on our local radio stations and in our local newspaper. Janet Benefiel, JCCU#1 Special Education will be making appointments starting on February 1st. Please call 618-783-3651 to register a screening time.
