Freda Thomas, 92, of LeRoy, Illinois, formerly of Newton passed away Thursday August 26, 2010 at LeRoy Manor in LeRoy, IL.  

Funeral services were held on Monday Aug. 30, 2010 also at the Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in LeRoy.  Burial followed in East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington, IL. In loving memory of Freda, memorial donations may be made to St. Judeís Children's Hospital.

Freda was born April 9, 1918 to Howard and Marie Wheat Phillips in Newton, IL.  She married Malcom Thomas Feb. 25, 1950 in Newton; he preceded her in death Jan. 25, 1987. Freda worked as a switch board operator for GTE in Newton and LeRoy.  She was employed at Poindexter's IGA for many years.  She also was a seamstress.  She was a member of the LeRoy Christian Church, as well as a past member of the Bloomington Moose Lodge and Rebekaha lodge.

Freda is survived by her two brothers, George Phillips and Harry Dale Phillips, both of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
