Verniel Frances Koeller, 93, of Flanagan, went to be with the Lord at 4:35 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, at Flanagan Rehabilitation and Health Care.
Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Flanagan, with Rev. Mark Knappe officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, and one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
Born Nov. 24, 1924, a half mile north of Flanagan on the Zimmerman homestead, Verniel was the daughter of Ezra N. and Idella (Staker) Zimmerman. She married Paul A. Koeller on May 11, 1946, at the place of her birth. They were married for 66 happy years.
Survivors include her sons, Jan (Susan) Koeller and Grant Koeller; grandchildren, Ben (Tammy) Koeller, Julie (Erick) Mueller, Christopher (Marissa) Koeller, Jennifer (Dusty) Gibson, Laura (Josh) Longeville, Steven Koeller, Leanne (Kurt) Francis; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her sister, Darlene; and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Koeller.
Verniel was a farm wife and spent many years raising collies and English shepherd dogs with her husband, Paul. She loved bowling, camping and watching the Cubs on TV with her husband and family. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Flanagan.
