Mrs. Alene C. Fear, 95, of Newton, Illinois passed away at 6:25 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services celebrating Alene's life were held Monday, February 22, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Newton, IL with Rev. Stephen Willis and Bro. Rick Britton officiating. Burial was in the Westlawn Cemetery in Newton, IL. Arrangements are under the care of the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL.
Alene was born on April 8, 1914 in Newton, IL the daughter of Clay H. and Lulu A. (Miller) Byrom. She married George E. Fear on April 18, 1932; he preceded her in death on March 25, 1972.
Alene worked for International Shoe Factory at Olney and for the Nutrition Center at Newton. She managed the Newton Laundromat and loved to dance.
Alene is survived by six children, Richard L. (Thelma) Fear of Robinson, Raymond E. (Fonda) Fear of Newton, Marcella C. (husband Herman) Whalen of Newton, Beverly A. (husband Elmer) Harness of Robinson, Connie L. (husband Robert) Keller of Newton and Bonnie S. Fear of Effingham; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; twenty-one great, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Alene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Florence Britton, Great Grandsons - Thomas Yoccum and Brandon Fear; great great grandson Alton Jones; two brothers John and Walter Byrom and a sister Lorene Langford.
In loving memory of Mrs. Fear, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or donor's choice.
