George "Roy" Dhom, 66, of Newton, Illinois passed away at 3:35 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM - Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Newton, IL. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM - Friday, March 19, 2010 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice or for masses.
George better know as "Roy" was born on November 13, 1943 in Jasper County, IL the John and Doris (Burwell) Dhom. He married Linda Bell on June 16, 1962 and she survives. Roy was retired from Briggs. He was a member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton. He enjoyed playing music, gardening, fishing, hunting and just being in the woods.
Roy is survived by his wife, Linda Dhom of Newton; children, Roy Allen (Sandra) Dhom of Newton, Melanie (Mark) Smithenry of Newton, Matthew (Stacey) Dhom and Bubba of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Kim, Kyle, Kate and Cody Dhom and Chelsea and Christopher Smithenry; four brothers and one sister, David (Shirley) Dhom; Ronald (Dusty) Dhom; Stan Dhom; Steve Dhom and Pam Stephenson, all of Newton.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, son Wesley Dennis Dhom and two brothers Raymond and Joe Dhom.
