Clarence J. "Sam" Ochs, 92, of West Liberty, Illinois passed away at 12:34 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2010 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Services were held Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL with military flag presentation by the Ste. Marie Post # 932 American Legion.
Clarence better know as Sam was born on September 18, 1917 in rural Ste. Marie, IL the son of John and Louisa (Zuber) Ochs. He married Lois Miller in February 1969; she survives. Sam served his country in the United States Army during WW II and was a lifelong farmer.
Sam is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lois Ochs of West Liberty; seven children, Chlorine (George) Kirts of Ste. Marie, Susan (Ralph) Condrey of Robinson, LouEllen (Victor) Frohning of Cisne, Michael (Mary Ellen) Ochs of Pawnee, David (Judy) Ochs of Cypress, TX, Gene (Phyllis) Ochs of Willow Hill and Linda (Bill) Bunting of Fairfield; two daughter-in-laws,, Cathy Ochs of Three Oaks, MI and Betty Ochs of Ste. Marie; twenty-nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and many great, great-grandchildren.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sons Walter, Earl and Orville "Pat" Ochs; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
