Orville E. Phillips, 88, of Willow Hill, Illinois passed away at 10:01 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2010 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, Illinois.

A public graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Mound Cemetery, rural Oblong, IL with Pastor Phil Boyd officiating.  The military flag presentation will be conducted by the Oblong American Legion Post #219. No visitation will be held. In loving memory of Orville, memorials may be made to the Hunt City Community Building. Arrangements are under the care of the Pulliam Funeral Home of Oblong.

Orville was born March 3, 1922 in Newton, Illinois, the son of Charlie and Lillis (Riought) Phillips. He married Virginia Lee Harper September 22, 1950. Orville was a hog farmer and worked at Kennedy's Feed Store in Newton for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Orville enjoyed going to sale and auctions.

Orville is survived by his wife Virginia Phillips of Willow Hill; two sons, Stanley Phillips of Willow Hill and Bradley (Cathy) Phillips of Poway, California; two granddaughters, Abby and Amanda Phillips of Poway, California; one sister, Mary Baughman of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Rev. Robert "Bob" Phillips.
