Dear Editor,
The religious community has sold their soul to Trump. They have abandond decency and accepted lies that are beyond belief, all because they are willing to trade these values in hopes of outlawing abortion.
Whether you support right to life or a woman’s right to choose, please consider this:
- Only six countries in the world have outlawed abortion. Two of those are in total uproar, i.e. El Salvador and Nicaragua. 141 countries still allow abortion.
- Many of the politicians and judes who say they want abortion outlawed are doing it because it gets them votes, but they really do not think it will ever happen.
- When the next Supreme Court Justice is confirmed, the fate of abortion in this country is not determined. It is very possible that all the talk about how things will then change will not happen. Actually, outlawing abortion and telling women they will be prosecuted, and just saying that needs to be done are two different things. It is a big step and may not happen. Remember, the last Supreme Court appointee, John Roberts, was supposed to be a strong conservative and he was the swing vote in upholding Obamacare.
Is it worth it for the religious community to trade off the traditional “love thy neighbor” philosophy for what may turn out to be nothin more than a court willing to do away with clean air, clean water, voting rights, and pre-existing conditions?
This may be a severe blow to religion in this country as many of the young people are tuned off by the hypocrisy shown by many who call themselves Christians.
