How Rude!

Like most people my age I can remember when my parents got a TV and my sisters and I were introduced to the wonderful world of telecast shows and movies and my two favorites of Roy Rogers & Dale Evans and Disney's  "Mickey Mouse Club".

Old Days

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their stories about how hard things were when they were growing up; walking twenty-five miles to school every morning…. Uphill.
And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way I was going to do that to my kids about how hard I had it!

Government again trying to veil its business by cutting public notices

By Dennis DeRossett, Executive Director, Illinois Press Association

Taxpayers have seen their fair share of government takeovers the past few years. The auto industry, Wall Street banks, student loans, healthcare, the list goes on and on.

All of these takeovers originated in Washington D.C. However, there is an ominous government takeover looming right here in Illinois, one that is not in the best interest of citizens of Illinois.

One important piece of foundation of our democracy is openness, or transparency, in government.

Note from the Editor:

I would like everyone that reads this to stop and think about a neighbor, co-worker, relative, friend and even the stranger that you come upon during your day or work week and realize that their situations may not always be what they seem.

How many of us in the busy, hussle-bussle of our lives in 2010 even know what is going on with those that are right near us? People have needs or problems that no one even realizes.
