Warriors win on throwing error

A walk and two errors led to Woodland-Flanagan-Cornell scoring the winning run in a 2-1 victory over Putnam County in Tri-County Conference softball Tuesday.
With the game tied at 1-1, August Gillman led off the bottom of the seventh inning by drawing a walk. Morgan Schwahn came on as the designated runner and advanced when Jasmine Easton reached on the first Panther error of the inning.
Kaitlyn Walter grounded out to move the runners up and a throwing error on a pickoff attempt allowed Schwahn to score the Warrior winner.
Putnam County took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first off WFC starter Shea Moritz. The Warriors finally got even in the fourth inning when Emily Friese stole home. Friese had reached on a three-base error to lead off the inning.
