The second weekend in a row Everett Bradham picked up a feature win at Charleston Speedway in the B-Mod division. The B-Mod class opened up the nights action with the 16 entries qualifying to set the heat race lineups. Everett Bradham, of Olney, set quick time with a lap of 14.80 topping the charts for the division. Scott Dunlap was second, Adam Scherer third, Nick Miller fourth, and Steve Phillips rounded out the top five qualifiers. Bradham would start on the pole of the first heat with Adam Scherer starting on the front row as well. Scherer would get the holeshot and hold off the strong charge from Bradham in the first heat of the night. The pilot of the 21 machine, Scherer, would lead the heat from start to finish despite Bradham giving a hard fought challenge. Steve Phillips would round out the top three in the first heat. In the second heat, Scott Dunlap would hold off BJ Deal and Nick Miller to pick up the heat race victory and a front row starting spot. Adam Scherer and Scott Dunlap would start on the front row of the feature event. Scherer would get the lead off the start and hold the top spot while running the high groove. Bradham would go down toward the bottom of the race track to pass Scott Dunlap and work on Scherer. Scherer and Bradham battled side by side for the first handful of laps with neither driver able to take advantage. Eventually, Bradham would clear Scherer claiming the top spot in the B-Mod feature event. The Olney native would have smooth sailing the rest of the way during the main event. Bradham would create space between himself and Scherer, who had a few car lenghts advantage over BJ Deal and Scott Dunlap’s battle for third. A pair of late race cautions brought the field bunched back together, but Bradham still held off the hungry challengers behind him. The pilot of the 37 B-Mod would collect his second feature win on the season at Charleston Speedway to make it back-to-back feature wins. In the UMP Modified division, Danny Schwartz picked up the nights A-Main win while Clay City, Illinois driver Marty Lindeman dazzled the fans. Ashmore, Illinois pilot Danny Schwartz set the fastest qualifying time with a lap of 13.28. Marty Lindeman was second, Kasey Schrock third, Brian Shaw fourth, and Curt Rhodes fifth fastest. In the opening heat of the UMP Modified division, Brian Shaw jumped ahead of Schwartz. Shaw held the lead as the faster Schwartz was held up in traffic. Brian Shaw would win the opening heat in the modifieds ahead of Larry Anderson and Danny Schwartz who had trouble and dropped to third in the finishing order. In the second heat, Lindeman led flag-to-flag to earn his first heat race win of the season at Charleston Speedway. The Clay City native secured the lead over the tough challenge of Curt Rhodes and Gabe Menser. Lindeman led the race from start to finish while Rhodes held off the battle with Menser for the second spot. Charleston’s own Kasey Schrock picked up the heat race victory in the third and final heat race of the evening. Schrock was able to hold off last weeks feature winner Rodney Standerfer in the third heat race with Tres Mehler following in third. Olney’s Justin Jones placed in the fourth place in the heat race. In the feature event, a ruled early start moved the MB4 of Lindeman to the tail while the 1s of Shaw remainded at the front. That move to the 20th starting position for Lindeman would create an impressive run. While Kasey Schrock quickly breezed to the front, Brian Shaw was desperately trying to hold off two lanes of traffic with Schwartz on the top and Standerfer on the bottom. As the battle at the front continued, Lindeman was blitzing through the 20 car field. Last week’s feature winner Standerfer had a mechanical break down nine laps into the event, bunching the field together. Schrock was holding the top spot over Shaw, Schwartz, Larry Anderson, and Justin Jones representing the top five. Danny Schwartz would quickly move into the second spot following the resart and was pressuring Schrock. Just passed the midpoint in the race, Schrock would have a break down moving the Ashmore driver of Schwartz to the lead. Following the caution for the bad luck of Schrock, Danny Schwartz would be on cruise control towards the finish. Lindeman would continue his charge through the field into the top five with a handful of laps remaining. Larry Anderson was trying to hold off both Justin Jones and Marty Lindeman as the laps continued to tick away. With just two laps remaining Lindeman would find just enough momentum to move around a strong drive from Jones to move into fourth and use a slide-job to pass Anderson coming to the white flag. Meanwhile with the highly contested battle for third through fifth, Schwartz ran away with the lead to the finish earning his first Charleston Speedway win on the season. Shaw would cling to a second place. Marty Lindeman would drive from 20th to a third place finish. Larry Anderson finished in the fourth spot by a nose over Justin Jones. Jones moved his way into a strong fifth place finish after a 12th place starting spot.
