Ryne Faulk leads El Paso-Gridley charge

El Paso-Gridley head coach Stephen Rigsby was hoping his Titans could get off to a good start to the season. A 28-0 win over Heyworth Friday night appears to be a good start.
It was the good old fashioned run game that steered EPG to victory. With all-conference running back Ryne Faulk leading the charge, the Titans collected 258 yards on the ground. EPG only tried three passes.
Of those attempts, only one was successful — and it went for the first score of te game. Faulk grabbed the Zach Herr offering and turned it into a 35-yard touchdown with 7:42 to go in the first quarter.
Herr, who won the quarterbacking job this past week, ran a keeper six yards for a touchdown, and then added the conversion run for a 14-0 halftime lead.
Faulk capped two EPG drives in the second half for the final difference. The first was a 4-yard jaunt with 5:29 to go in the third quarter. Nash Stoller added the conversion kick to make it 21-0.
An 8-yard blast by Faulk made it a four-touchdown difference with 8:38 left in the game. Stoller added the point-after.
Faulk rushed for 165 yards on 36 carries, and added a 35-yard reception to give him 200 yards of offense for the game. Herr rushed for 49 yards.
EPG’s defense held the Hornets to 67 total yards.
