Stark County at Lewiston

Kickoff –– 7 p.m. at Lewiston High School

Last year –– Stark County 18, Lewiston 6

Stark County looks to avoid its first 0-2 start since 1995 as the team travels to Lewiston tonight. That season was also the last time the Rebels failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Both teams enter tonight’s matchup searching for the first win of the season. Stark County lost to Farmington 32-14 last week; Lewiston dropped a 14-7 overtime decision to Princeville.

Mid-County at Peoria Heights

Kickoff –– 7 p.m. at Peoria Heights High School

Last year –– Teams did not meet

Mid-County and Peoria Heights both enter the second week of the season on the heels of blowout losses. Mid-County fell to Elmwood-Brimfield 40-6, while Peoria Heights was hammered by Ridgewood 48-6.

With conference play looming, the Cougars are in need of a win.

Ridgewood at Bushnell-West Prairie

Kickoff –– 7 p.m. at West Prairie High School

Last year –– Teams did not meet

It’s a battle of 1-0 squads as Ridgewood travels to West Prairie. Ridgewood pounded Peoria Heights a week ago and BWP topped Abingdon-Avon behind a strong defensive effort.

The Spartans look to keep their momentum heading into LTC play next week.

Bureau Valley at St. Bede

Kickoff –– 7:30 p.m. at St. Bede Academy

Last year –– Bureau Valley 33, St. Bede 23

In order to start the season 2-0 for the third year in a row, Bureau Valley will have to go through St. Bede tonight in Peru.

It will be a battle of premier backs as BV’s Mac Nugent looks to follow up his four-score outburst in last week’s win over Erie-Prophetstown. The Bruins will counter with senior Ben Bernabei, who had 250 yards and three touchdowns in St. Bede’s 27-20 win over Fulton.
