Area volleyball from Thursday

    Fieldcrest didn't have a strong hitting game but the Knights were able to take care of business in a 25-16, 25-17 win over Putnam County Thursday night.
    Emma Petersen led the Knights (7-0) with 4 kills and Alyx Carls added 3. Lexi Jochums had 10 assists. Madi Hock made 14 digs on defense.
    Fieldcrest won the two preliminary matches, taking the sophomore battle 25-23, 26-24, and scoring a 25-13, 25-15 win at the freshman level.
Ridgeview-Cissna Park
    Cissna Park was too much for Ridgeview as the Timberwolves claimed a 25-16, 25-19 decision in nonconference play.
    Mya Tinsley had 7 kills for the Mustangs. Izzy Helmig recorded 11 assists and Calli Maupin made 11 digs on defense.
Dwight-Momence
    Dwight opened Sangamon Valley Conference play with a 25-14, 25-12 loss to Momence at Kresl Memorial Gymnasium.
    Kayla Kodat had 7 service points and 2 assists. Emily Weissmann chalked up 2 kills. Jordan Schultz had 7 digs.
    Dwight managed to battle despite the loss of a player, leaving the Trojans with only five on the floor. Head coach Maleah White said that Kodat and Jordan Schultz played well in the back court.
    Dwight won the frosh-soph match 25-22, 27-25. Five different players recorded 1 kill. Kodat had 11 service points and 7 aces with Schultz adding 7 points.
Illini Prairie
    Tolono Unity was pushed to a third set before prevailing 25-19, 19-25, 25-20 in a nonconference match with Tuscola.
     Emma Bleacher led the Rockets with 8 kills and 2 blocks. Lily Glanzer had 7 kills and Gracie Cox recorded 6. Haley Glanzer had 14 assists and Jalyn Powell chalked up 13.
    Ella Godsell dug up 15 attacks and McKenzie Newell had 2 blocks.
