Girls' swimming at Pontiac natatorium

Megan Lauritsen was part of both winning events for Pontiac but it wasn’t enough to deal with the depth of Normal West in a girls’ swimming triangular meet Tuesday afternoon at the PTHS natatorium.
The Wildcats won all the other events and had a number of first-and-second-place finishes to rack up 169 points. Pontiac was second at 100½ and Lincoln was third with 45½.
Lauritsen swam a leg in the first event of the meet, the 200-meter medley relay. Ava Nollen started off the race for the Indians with Elena Pina and Keely Pickett also swimming legs as Pontiac won with a time of 2 minutes, 20.87 seconds.
The quintet of Mackenzi Mies, Camryn Mies, Gretchen Hilt and Mary Hilt placed fifth in the race.
Lauritsen edged West’s Chloe Nelson at the pad to win the breaststroke in 1:32.1. Camryn Mies placed fourth at 1:38.81.
Pickett scored second-place points in two events to aid the Pontiac cause. Pickett was runnerup in the 50-meter freestyle at 29.95 seconds in a close finish with winner Nellie Sherrick of Normal West. Katie Stock was fourth in the 50 at 32.32 seconds.
Pickett was second to Sherrick in the 100 free with a time of 1:06.53. Hannah Grove tied for fourth in the 100 at 1:13.53.
