Rocky Ragusa's Speed Week

    Due to scheduling conflicts, the second annual “Sprint Mania” planned for this weekend has been cancelled. For those with reserved seats and camping reservations, an announcement will be made within the coming days on receiving a refund on the tracks website.
    The next event will be the awards banquet at the Walton Centre in Fairbury on November 10.
    Last Sunday before a packed house, 101 cars in three divisions participated in the sixth annual “Bill Waite Memorial” at the LaSalle Speedway.
    In the 30-lap, IRA/MOWA Winged Sprint race, Parker Price-Miller led flag to flag to take the $6,000 first-place money. Gio Scelzi pressured his teammate throughout the race, but settled for second. Retired NASCAR star Tony Stewart, Scotty Thiel and Brandon Wimmer completed the top five.
    After winning the Illinois State Championship race the previous night at the Peoria Speedway, Brian Shirley pocketed another $5,000 by leading all 40 laps at LaSalle. Chris Simpson, Billy Drake, Allen Weisser and Jason Feger completed the first five positions.
    Allen Hafford took the win in the Wisconsin Wingless Sprint Car series race.
    The Kankakee Speedway will host a Crash and Bash show this Friday night at 6:30. Pro late model driver Torin Mettille claimed his second straight division track title.
    Peoria Speedway will host racing action for the next two Saturday nights.
    Macon Speedway will wrap up their season this Saturday night with racing at 7 p.m.
