Turks topple Mustangs on homecoming for RHS and Lexington

Ridgeview had Tremont stuck deep in its own territory when a mishap took place for the Turks while punting that resulted in a safety and a 2-0 RHS lead with 8:11 to go in the opening frame.
The Mustangs took less than minute to tack on a touchdown on its ensuing possession when tate Walcott broke free for a 37-yard score. Charlie Kirkhorn added the conversion kick for a 9-0 Ridgeview lead with 7:18 left in the first period.
But Tremont’s athleticism came to the forefront as the Turks moved quickly to answer. Nate Nguyen ran in from 11 yards to get Tremont on the board just 51 seconds after the RHS score.
The Turks got two touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 21-9 lead into the break. A touchdown in the third made it 27-9 as Tremont maintained control. A touchdown with 7:01 left in the game created a 33-9 difference.
The Mustangs finally got back to paydirt when Jared Leake connected with Walcott for a 32-yard touchdown with 3:28 left in the game. Kirkhorn’s boot created the final difference.
Tremont (3-3)    outgained the Mustangs (3-3) 349 yards to 264. The Turks did it all on the ground. Buster rushed for 144 yards and Nguyen added 91.
The Mustangs had trouble getting their run game in gear. Walcott led with 51 yards and Ryan Benton added 38 as RHS had just 146. Leake threw for 118 yards on 9 of 14 passing. Walcott had 70 yards on three catches.
