There are few people who have not had their lives touched by cancer in some way. If you are a cancer survivor, a family member or a friend of someone who has heard the words “you have cancer,” the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Jasper County invites you come together as a community to celebrate, remember and fight back.
Individuals are needed to help plan this year’s event. If you enjoy helping, planning and logistics, talking to people, being creative and fighting cancer please contact Meaghan McDonagh at American Cancer Society at 217-356-9076 and join the 2012 Relay For Life team.
“No matter where you live or what time you call our hotline, the American Cancer Society is can provide information, day-to-day help and emotional support,” said McDonagh. “Relay For Life helps provide funds for cancer research, free wigs, Look Good…Feel Better sessions and more. We are looking for teams, businesses and individuals with enthusiasm and a willingness to share what this event is all about.” A planning meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 31 at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Christian Church, 208 S. Jackson, in Newton. Anyone who would like to learn more is encouraged to attend.
Relay For Life of Jasper County is a fun, overnight event that celebrates cancer survivors and caregivers, remembers those who have lost their battle against the disease, and empowers people to fight back. Relay For Life of Jasper County will be held August 10 at The Square in Newton. It will begin at 6 p.m. and wrap up at 6 a.m.
