Family and friends will remember Kevin Mowl this weekend with a military funeral. His body arrived in Rochester this afternoon.
Funeral arrangements for Pittsford native Kevin Mowl will be held this weekend.
Mowl, a specialist in the United States Army, was serving in Iraq in August 2007 when the vehicle he was in was hit by an improvised explosive device, or IED.
Mowl suffered a brain injury and multiple fractures in the explosion. After seven months of medical care, Mowl, 22, died Feb. 25 at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29, at Anthony Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 2305 Monroe Ave. A military funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the Linehan Chapel in the Golisano Academic Center at Nazareth College, 4245 East Ave., Pittsford. Interment will be at White Haven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mowl's memory may be made to the Travel Abroad Program at the Rochester School for the Deaf, 1545 St. Paul St., Rochester, N.Y. 14621.
