High temperatures through 7 p.m. Friday will range from 94 to 98 degrees. Little relief is expected at night, with lows Thursday night only in the mid to upper 70s.


Heat index values will reach triple digits by late morning and range from 107 to 113 degrees Thursday and Friday afternoons. There are some indications that brutal heat may linger into Saturday in many areas.


There is a high risk of heat related illnesses for people with prolonged exposure outdoors or without access to air conditioning..the elderly, small children and pets are especially susceptible to the heat.


An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures with high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illness are possible.


Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
