Elberta M. Pictor, 105, passed April 19, 2018 at her home in Palm Harbor.

Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, followed by a gathering of friends and family. She will be interned next to her husband of 48 years, Raymond, at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice or American Cancer Society. Palm Harbor Life Celebration Centre.

Elberta was born in West Liberty, IL on April 15, 1913 to her parents Robert and Agnes (Burgener) Hendry. After graduating from Newton Community High School, she obtained her associate degrees from Eastern Illinois University and her bachelor degree in education from Valparaiso University. She married Raymond Pictor on May 16, 1941. A lifelong educator, she was an elementary school teacher in Jasper County, IL where she taught in a one room school and in the winter she often had to ride a horse to school when the roads were impassible. Later she taught in Lake County, IN at one time in her career, she was chosen as an Outstanding Teacher of America. She loved gardening, antiques and reading biographies. She was an active member of the Indiana State Teachers Retirement and Lake County Retirement Associations, the Palm Harbor Senior Club and a member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church.

Her fascinating stories over the last century, wisdom and smile will be forever remembered by: her children, Robert R (Jane) Pictor and Sheryl Traber; grandchildren, Robert E Pictor, Richard (Kelly) Pictor, Rebecca (Lonnie) Courtney, Chris (Carol) Traber, Patrick (Margaret) Traber, Michelle Traber and Melissa Traber; and 11 great-grandchildren.
