Carle Richland Memorial Hospital recently awarded the Sunshine Award for the third quarter. The Sunshine Award was created by the CRMH Rewards and Recognition Committee as a way to recognize employees for delivering outstanding care. This award recognizes employees who are engaged and enthusiastic about their work and take positive action to further the organizations reputation and interests.
The Sunshine Award was presented to Marti Waggoner, DPT, a member of the CRMH Rehabilitation Services team. Marti was nominated for the award due to the amount of time she spends in the community helping children with the skills she uses for her job at the hospital. From June to October, she spends every Tuesday evening with Gaitway to Motion, a horseback riding program for children with special needs. She was also very instrumental in bringing AMBUCS to the community. This organization provides bikes made specially for children with various needs. She dedicates her time to both of these organizations and to these children and expects nothing in return. Megan Taylor, co-worker and mother of one of the children who has benefitted from these programs, nominated her.
The committee presented Marti with a certificate and banner that will hang in her department for the remainder of the quarter, as well as a gift comprised of some of her favorite things. Her whole department was also presented with “Sunshine” cookies to enjoy with her.
One Sunshine Award is presented each quarter to a deserving employee. The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses® is also presented each quarter and is the program used to recognize nursing staff.
If you have had a great experience with a member of our staff and feel they should be nominated for one of these awards, please pick up and fill out a brochure located in all of the hospital waiting areas, clinic waiting rooms, or in the CRMH café.
