If you were wondering what to do with that junk in the house, attic, basement or garage then take heart. Republic Services conducts a communitywide pickup of discarded household items on Nov. 1.

The curbside pickup that Friday is included in the city contract with the waste hauler. It is conducted twice a year. Residents are responsible for getting the items out to the curb for quicker and easier collection.

Items accepted for the collection: household furniture, mattresses, large toys, carpeting, tied in 3-foot bundles, and appliances without chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) or hydrofluorocarbons (HCFCs) that are present in many refrigerators or air conditioners.

The following items are NOT accepted: construction debris, building materials, tires, paint, liquid waste, electronics or any hazardous material.
