Lloyd Ellis Stevens, 95, of Olney, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. He was born on November 16, 1924 in Parkersburg, Illinois, the son of Everett and Lena Gladys (Cokley) Stevens. He married Anna Pauline (Pampe) on June 15, 1947 in Parkersburg, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on May 18, 1996.


Lloyd owned and operated Stevens Refrigeration for many years. He was an active member of Immanuel United Methodist Church as well as a member of the VFW and American Legion. He served in the US Army during WW II. Lloyd enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and going to his cabin in Southern Illinois. Lloyd volunteered his time at The Good Samaritan Food Pantry until very recently. He took great pleasure in being around his family and was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-pa. Lloyd was a true gentleman and mentor to many, and his kind and peaceful manner will be missed.


Lloyd is survived by his son, Mark Stevens, of Olney; four daughters, Nancy Wallace and her husband, Bob, of Dundas, Patricia Stemmley and her husband, Jay, of Bethalto, Marcia Hoagland and her husband, Dennis of Bethalto, and Jeanne Dunahee and her husband, Jeff, of Salem; daughter-in-law, Kanda Stevens; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Stevens of Olney; and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Phil Stevens; sister, Kathleen Gill; brothers, Bill Stevens and Gail Stevens.

There will be a private family Graveside service held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.
