CAMBRIDGE - Elsie I. Watson, 91, of Cambridge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of May 10, 2020.

Elsie was born in Green County, Kentucky to Oscar and Lizzy (Buley) Salsman. She came to Kewanee as a young adult with her parents. Elsie worked in a hat factory before she met the love of her life, Jack Watson, to whom she married on February 17, 1945. Together they had eight children, to which she then devoted her life to raising and being a homemaker. She was a devout Christian and the Lord’s light shined brightly through her every day.

Her loving memory will always be in the hearts of her seven children, Sue (Larry) Sollenberger, Sandy (Larry) Shambaugh, Gary (Kathy) Watson, Thomas Watson, Larry (June) Watson, Judy (Tom) Echelberger, and Debbie (Gary) Welch. Elsie had 23 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren and one sister, Leora Stanard. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Watson; son, Daniel Watson; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five sisters and one brother.

Elsie enjoyed crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren. She was known for her large garden that she had with Jack. She especially loved babysitting her grandchildren.

A family only funeral service will be live streamed on the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home Facebook page at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. Pastor Jon Vincent will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Food Pantry, 11017 E. 1500 St, Cambridge, IL 61238.
