Area softball from Monday
Emily Friese was perfect in pitching Woodland-Flanagan-Cornell to a 14-0 victory over Lowpoint-Washburn in a Tri-County Conference softball game Monday at Woodland.
Friese threw just 56 pitches in five innings and got great defensive support in throwing a no-hitter and perfect game. Friese struck out three, got seven groundouts and five fly outs.
Audrey Jenkins provided most of the offensive punch with two home runs and five runs batted in. She added a single and scored three times for the Warriors.
WFC scored a run in the first inning and added eight in the second for a 9-0 lead.
Friese helped her cause with a double and RBI. August Gillman and Shea Moritz each had a double drove in a run while Sydnee Plesko, Kaitlyn Walter and Abby Essman each had a single and RBI. Elise Kane singled.
BCC 12, Prairie Central 1
PEORIA — Prairie Central went indoors to take on host Central Catholic, but the Hawks had trouble against the Saints’ pitching as they dropped a 12-1 Illini Prairie Conference contest Monday.
The game was played at the Louisville Slugger Complex in Peoria.
The Hawks got to BCC starter Izzy Vetter for a run in the top of the first inning and led until the Saints batted in the second. BCC scored five runs that inning and added three in the third frame and four in the fourth.
Amber Graf had a hit and RBI for Prairie Central. Jadyn Stephens scored and Faith Bachtold had the other PC safety.
Heidi Meister took the loss, allowing seven runs off six hits and two walks. She struck out two in two-plus innings. Bachtold gave up five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one.
