Fieldcrest moves to .500 on season
Tyler McKay threw for two touchdowns, Jaxon Cusac-McKay scored on a run and a reception and Mike Morse rushed for a pair of TDs to lead Fieldcrest to a 42-7 thumping of Dee-Mack in a Heart of Illinois Conference Large Division football game Friday.
The Knights got on the board early in the second period to open the scoring. Tyler McKay connected with Derek May for a 26-yard touchdown with 11:06 to go in the first half. The conversion made it 7-0. All of the FHS conversion tries were good on the night.
Although Dee-Mack answered, Fieldcrest wasn’t done scoring. Jaxon Cusac-McKay bolted in on a 4-yard run to put the Knights back on top at 14-7 with a mere 27 seconds remaining in the half.
Fieldcrest pulled away in the third quarter when McKay and Cusac-McKay hooked up for a 7-yard touchdown to cap a drive with 6:43 left in the third. Morse found paydirt on a 1-yard charge with 1:13 left in the quarter for a 28-7 advantage for the Knights.
Micah Hurd bolted 43 yards for a touchdown 34 seconds into the fourth period for a 35-7 Fieldcrest lead. Morse completed the scoring with his 2-yard jaunt with 5:17 remaining in the game.
The Knights (3-3) collected 481 yards of offense on the new Dee-Mack turf. FHS had 336 rushing yards with Cusac-McKay collecting 118 yards on 13 trips and Morse contributing 114 yards on 11 carries. Hurd had 69 yards.
McKay threw for 145 yards on 13 of 16 passing. Morse had 54 yards as eight Knights had receptions.
Teo Zamora was in on 8 tackles, including 5 solo. McKay walso part of 8 stops and Jared Seggerman had 7 tackles. May recorded an interception.
